Continuing where we left off in the last blog post, let us see a few more innovations in healthcare that have transformed the landscape.
Apps to manage Stress and Anxiety.
Pacifica is an increasingly popular wellness app, with some 2.6 million registered users. Pacifica describes itself as “an app for stress, anxiety, and depression based on cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and wellness.”
The app is designed to be a daily tool to help users manage anxiety and stress at a comfortable pace, as well as to connect them to a community of other users for support.
Moodpath is another app that was developed to track stress models by providing users with daily evaluations. After fourteen days of usage/tracking, the app creates a document that may be shared with a healthcare professional.
Woebot is an AI-powered chatbot that is like one of the many popular messaging services. The chatbot “listens” to how you are feeling, learns about you, and offers evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy tools.
These interactions are tailored to the individual users’ unique situations and are not intended to replace mental health professionals, but instead to augment the care and counsel they can provide.
Robot-Assisted Surgery
Using robots to assist with surgery can allow for much greater precision while also reducing the invasiveness of many procedures. This can help to improve recovery time and reduce pain.
Additionally, robot-assisted surgery is helpful for reducing stress for surgeons which can be a huge hindrance in providing quality healthcare.
3D Printing
The potential for 3D printing in the healthcare industry is enormous and it is already being used to great effect in many different ways. 3D printing can be used to create artificial bones, prosthetics supports, and even organ transplants and tissue repair.
While still in infancy, this technology is widely touted to become more and more prevalent with further scientific validation coming it's way.
Electronic Health Records
Gone are the days when patients and practitioners had to maintain files over files of physical healthcare records. The use of paper to record prescriptions, vitals, and patient progress has now given way to the e-filing of these records.
This makes the process of managing healthcare records hassle-free, while also making these records easy to access.
With the advent of Big Data, Cutting edge analytics tools and blockchain, safe storage, and meaningful analysis of this data have also added a new dimension to effective healthcare.
