Plastic surgery is a surgical specialty involving the restoration, reconstruction or alteration of the human body.
Cosmetic plastic surgery includes surgical and nonsurgical procedures that enhance and reshape structures of the body to improve appearance and confidence.
Some Of The Most Common Types Of Plastic Surgeries Are:
1. Liposuction
Liposuction is the removal of fat deposits using a tube that is inserted under the skin; the fat is then sucked off using a vacuum-like device. The procedure is often performed on the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, and upper arms. Recovery times range from one to four weeks, but it can take up to six months for all the swelling to go down.
2. Rhinoplasty
Commonly known as rhinoplasty, rhinoplasty involves reshaping the nose to make it larger or smaller, narrowing the span of the nostrils, or changing the angle between the nose and the upper lip. Rhinoplasty is popular with both men and women. Those affected usually take one to three weeks to recover, but it is advised not to pick their nose or sunburn for eight weeks.
3. Breast Augmentation
Breast augmentation, or breast augmentation, is the act of enlarging a woman's breasts using saline-filled or silicone-filled implants. The surgery requires only a few days of recovery, although the ASPS recommends not having any physical contact with the breasts for three to four weeks.
4. Eyelid Surgery
With an eyelid correction or blepharoplasty, droopy upper lids and bags under the eyes are corrected by removing excess fat, muscle and skin. Patients take anywhere from a week to ten days to recover, but contact lens wearers take two weeks or more before wearing their corrective lenses.
5. Tummy Tuck
Beer guts may be more associated with men, but women by far get more abdominoplasty procedures. The abdomen is flattened during the surgery when extra fat and skin are removed and abdominal muscles are tightened. Patients need two to six weeks of recovery time.
6. Face Lift
Is there really anything being lifted? Not really, but the excess fat is removed and the muscles are tightened before the skin is pulled back. Also, facelift is easier to say than rhytidectomy, which is the medical name of the procedure. It takes ten days to three weeks to recover, but sun exposure should be limited for several months.
7. Breast lift
A breast lift, or mastopexy, is performed on women who want to raise and reshape their sagging breasts. The procedure removes extra skin and repositions the remaining tissue and nipples. Recovery can take a week to a month.
8. Dermabrasion
The epidermis is renewed during microdermabrasion and shows fewer signs of sun damage and fine lines.
Dermabrasion literally erases facial wrinkles and blemishes as a surgeon uses a high-speed rotating tool to scrape away the top layers of skin, leaving softer, newer layers. Women represent 88% of dermabrasion patients. Recovery time is usually two to six weeks, but the face may be red for three months. The actual procedure will leave you a little red in the face, but not the cost.
9. Hair transplantation
Unfortunately, hair transplants don't work for alopecia areata because this is what doctors call the dominant recipient, meaning the patches have no potential for hair growth.
If things are a little too bare on top, a surgeon can reduce the amount of scalp you have or insert clusters of hair (plugs) directly into the noggin. Depending on the technique used, it may take multiple visits to the surgeon over 18 months to restore your mane to its former glory.
10. Lip augmentation
If topical lip plumpers aren't enough, some women go under the knife.
If your wrinkles aren't as prominent as you'd like, you can fill them in with lip augmentation, in which a surgeon hollows out part of your lip and inserts an implant to give your lips more body. It usually takes two to three weeks for the swelling to go down after this procedure.
11. Breast reduction (men)
A condition called gynecomastia causes some men to develop breasts similar to women's. There are many possible causes of gyno, including hormonal changes during puberty, drug use, cancer, genetic disorders, liver disease, and some medications. Larger breasts are often due to excess fat or glandular tissue; with a breast reduction, this extra matter is removed. Gynecomastia is quite common; in fact, the condition affects 40 to 60 percent of men, according to the ASPS. Recovery usually takes two to three weeks.
12. Buttock lift
Maybe your hips and thighs are fine, but your butt could use a tweak. So a butt lift is meant to remove excess skin and tissue and lift the buttocks. In some cases, implants are used to give the area more shape. Recovery takes about two weeks, but the swelling can last for several months.
